On May 14th, the Gwaii Trust held its first in-person annual general meeting in two years in the beautiful village of Daajing Giids, as well as making it available online for those unable to attend.
During the meeting we presented our 2021 financial statements and shared some highlights of the past year.
567 grants totalling $2.14 million, including:
$120,000 for Haida language programs
$286,500 for Food Security and Food Sovereignty programs
$378,000 in Continuing Education grants
$400,000 in Major Contributions grants
$149,000 in Community Innovation grants
We also said goodbye to Sk’aal Ts’iid James Cowpar who has chaired the Gwaii Trust Board since 2016, and welcomed Huux̲ Percy Crosby for a three-year term. Here are your 2022/2023 Board of Directors:
