Even more companion animals on Haida Gwaii will now be supported and protected through the creation of the new Gwaii Animal Helpline Fund.
The Gwaii Trust Society is committed to assisting Haida Gwaii non-profits and charities improve their self-sufficiency through the creation of endowment funds through the Haida Gwaii Community Foundation (HGCF). On September 28, 2023, the Gwaii Trust Board approved the establishment of the Gwaii Animal Helpline Fund to support the well-being of companion animals in Haida Gwaii on a long-term basis. The Gwaii Trust Society has also agreed to match donations up to a total of $50,000 in the first year.
Says Peter Grundmann, Chair of the Gwaii Animal Helpline Society, “We are thrilled with the opportunity to work with the Haida Gwaii Community Foundation and the Gwaii Trust Society to build a financial foundation to sustain animal well-being in Haida Gwaii!”
