Goox stands in front of the remains of the cabin that was built to shelter those who stood the line back in 1985. The forest and moss encroach on the wooden cabin. Goox wears a hat, sunglasses, a pfd and a dark sweater.

Meet Goox – Director, Council of the Haida Nation for Skidegate

My name is Goox, and I’m a proud member of Skidegate. I’ve lived on Haida Gwaii most of my life, except for the years I spent away pursuing post-secondary education. Haida Gwaii is my home;  I love being out on the water, food fishing, exploring, and even embracing storm season and the occasional power outage!

Being part of the Gwaii Trust Board is deeply meaningful to me. It’s an opportunity to support island residents in a substantial way, helping ensure financial resources are available to build our communities. I’m passionate about sustainability – protecting and preserving our land and waters so future generations can enjoy the same beauty and abundance we do today.

It’s an honour to serve and give back to the place that has given me so much.
