Emmy O’Gorman has joined the Gwaii Trust Society as the new alternate for Area E – K’il Kun Sandspit. In her own words, she shares a bit about her background and what inspired her to become part of the organization.
“I was born and raised in Port Alberni, on the ancestral land of the Nuu Chah Nulth people. I’ve lived in K’il Kun/Sandspit for the past 25 years, and have raised my children here. I am a teacher in SD50, and I love hands-on experiences and education. I am a passionate grower of food & flowers, and I have a special interest in food sovereignty through education. I love sports and fishing and being outside. I have worked with the Gwaii Trust for decades as a recipient of many funded projects for education, gardens, the arts and student travel. I am very excited to participate on the board with a different focus, and to give back with gratitude for the years of support the Gwaii Trust has offered my projects.”
