Tarah Samuels/K’alaagaa Jaad is the granddaughter of Nora and Eugene Samuels, daughter of Steve and Carrie Samuels. She is a proud Haida and Gaw Tlagee resident and is committed to Nation building and community empowerment. With over a decade of experience across corporate & community organizations, nonprofit operations, grant making, and public policy, Tarah consistently channels her leadership to uplift Haida voices and values. Her work reflects a deep passion for advancing leadership through systemic inclusion, access to justice, and culturally grounded policy development. Her current role with the Council of the Haida Nation and the Vancouver Foundation further highlight her capacity to influence strategic decision-making rooted in Indigenous values and Haida Ways of Being.
Whether through philanthropy, economic planning, or grassroots engagement, Tarah’s work exemplifies a powerful blend of leadership, cultural stewardship, and visionary advocacy for Indigenous futures. She is a proud Mom to her son Zion and enjoys spare time by walking and going on mini HG adventures, or enjoying relaxing time at home with her husband.
