Gwaii Trust Society Logo

The Gwaii Trust Society logo, Helping Hands, designed in 1997 by Haida artist 7idansuu James Hart, reflects our vision: To advocate and support an islands community characterized by respect for cultural diversity, the environment, and a sustainable and increasingly self-sufficient economy. The three bars in the middle reflect the separation of the four chieftainship rings. Four is good luck in Haida culture, and chieftainship rings represent wealth and leadership in the community. The logo symbolizes the leadership role we take in stewarding the Trust in perpetuity for the benefit of all residents of Haida Gwaii.

Athlii Gwaii Legacy Logo

The Athlii Gwaii Legacy Logo was designed in 2024 by Haida artist Yahl ‘Aadas Cori Savard. The design is comprised of green upside down U-shapes, which become cursive R’s, an interpretation of the pillars of funding for the legacy trust: Restoration, Revitalization and Renewables. Within these R’s are Tri-neg shapes in light green, which are outlined by a darker green lines, the two elements together become trees with branches extending outward. Combined, these elements represent the forests of Haida Gwaii, and surrounded by the R’s, represent the protected Haida Heritage Site, and Gwaii Haanas Park reserve, the legacy of Athlii Gwaii. In between the U shapes, is another Tri-neg, connecting the design and maintaining the familiar visual balance of the Gwaii Trust Society logo. Finally, the two U-shapes lean to the right, they are moving forward. They also vary slightly in height, as do their inner Tri-neg elements to represent the growth that will come from Athlii Gwaii Legacy.

Haida Gwaii Community Foundation Logo

The Haida Gwaii Community Foundation Logo was designed in 2025 by Jen Bailey. The design is comprised of heart shapes that form the contour of Haida Gwaii. The colours of the logo are based on a rainbow. The Hart Family was instrumental in the creation of the Haida Gwaii Community Fund, and the rainbow colours honour them.

Kun Whale Tail

Created by Haida artist Raven Thorgeirson (Pearson LeBlanc) in 2025, the whale tail reflects our connection to the natural world and the strength found in moving forward together. The tail fluke represents momentum and impact — a single motion that carries weight, direction, and purpose. Like whales traveling in pods, we believe in community as a force for change, collaboration, and shared movement.

The Gwaii Trust Society utilizes this artwork to represent the three areas we have developed – the Gwaii Trust Society, Athlii Gwaii Legacy, and the Haida Gwaii Community Foundation.
