High School Bursary Grant
High School bursaries are available to each graduating student from Daax̲iigan Sk’adáa Née and GidG̲alang Kuuyas Naay on Haida Gwaii. Based on the criteria developed by each High School, students are eligible to apply through their school for a bursary that ranges from a minimum of $300 to a maximum of $3,000. In 2025, the allocation for this grant is $45,000.
Field Trip Fund
The Gwaii Trust Society Board understands that travel costs can be a barrier for students wanting to participate in sporting, cultural, and educational activities off-island. That’s why we have the Field Trip Fund! Augmenting local fundraising, this fund provides additional support to School District 50 to help cover travel expenses for school teams, classes, and clubs to go on off-island field trips. In 2025, the allocation for this grant is $150,000.
School Food Grant
The primary focus of the School Food Grant is to make nutritious and culturally appropriate food more accessible to students. Funded through the Food Security budget and administered by School District 50, this grant supports food programs for each school on Haida Gwaii. In 2025, the allocation for this grant is $138,000.
The Post-Secondary Institutions Tour Grant
The Post-Secondary Institutions Tour Grant helps local high school students experience off-island post-secondary institutions before they graduate. The Gwaii Trust Society Board approved $50,000 for this grant to assist with travel costs for grade 10, 11, and 12 students. This support helps students familiarize themselves with college and university life and academic requirements.
